Biden Administration Expresses Support and Commitment for International Education

Yesterday the federal Department of Education and State Department issued a statement of "commitment to international education." The statement received support from the Department of Commerce and the Department of Homeland Security as well. Inside Higher Education observes that "[t]he statement of support for international education from the Biden administration comes after four years in which the sector found itself in frequent battles with the Trump administration over travel and visa policies."

From the statement: "All Americans need to be equipped with global and cultural competencies to navigate the ever-changing landscapes of education, international business, scientific discovery and innovation, and the global economy. International education enhances cultural and linguistic diversity, and helps to develop cross-cultural communication skills, foreign language competencies, and enhanced self-awareness and understanding of diverse perspectives."
